Safer water for the world's most vulnerable communities
Access to safe, clean water is essential for health and the provision of essential health services. The effects of climate change are exacerbating both water scarcity and water quality. In 2022, 27% of the world’s population lacked access to safe water.
To address the health impacts of the climate crisis, our team worked with a number of local partners in Malawi to develop a UV-based water treatment technology solution to support access to clean water in rural maternal health facilities.
This initiative won us the SDG Challenge focused on SDG 13: Climate Action, providing us with over €1.1 million in additional funding over the next two years, which we will use to continue testing and ultimately develop a scale-up plan for Malawi and surrounding countries.
